With the tagline "a pool of students with a passion for cinema meet with the experts," this year's inaugural Cairo Industry Youth Day features a variety of change-makers in the Arab film world. From Every Week Has a Friday actor Asser Yassin, to renowned Egyptian TV screenwriter Mariam Naoum, to costume designer Reem El Adl, whose work has been featured on projects from the Cannes-featured film Clash to the musical Coco Chanel, starring Sherihan's long awaited return to the screen, the line-up includes a who's who of talent and experience in the cinema world.

The Cairo Industry Youth Day is a one-day workshop programme for film students who are enthusiastic about filmmaking and eager to learn. This one-day workshop will be attended by a selected group of students from Egypt's film faculties, including AUC's Film Department, Mass Communication Department, Film and Media studies Department at the British University in Cairo, and High Cinema Institute.

The goal of this workshop is to connect the academic world with the practical world through sharing the experts' thoughts, struggles and experience to guide the students and help them start their practical career.

CIFF director Mohamed Hefzy said about it: "We are really honoured to organize the Cairo Industry Youth Day event for the first time at Cairo International Film Festival, as part of Cairo Industry Days, this event falls in line with the festival's policy of acting as a platform for discovering and mentoring young filmmakers."

Meriame El Deghedi, Head of Cairo Industry Days added: "The Cairo Industry Youth Day would not have been accomplished without the enthusiastic participation of several veteran filmmakers who were eager to participate in the events and convey their experiences to the promising youth -- I wish that Cairo Industry Youth Day will have an impact on the journey of these young people.”

CID is the industry platform of Cairo International Film Festival in partnership with the ACC to provide space for discussions, networking, meetings, workshops, masterclasses and partnership opportunities between Arab talents and regional and international key industry professionals to further support talents in the Arab world and shed light on them.

The 43rd edition of the CIFF will be adhering to the World Health Organization approved precautions taken by the Egyptian government to ensure the safety of the festival’s guests, audiences, and team.
