The upcoming 44th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) will be held from 13 - 22 November, 2022. They have just opened their call for submissions for the 9th Cairo Film Connection, the Festival’s co-production market.
Along with that, the Cairo International Film Festival also announced the appointment of Lynda Belkhiria as the Manager of their 9th edition of CFC.
Movie star Hussein Fahmy, President of CIFF, expressed his enthusiasm, looking forward to receiving new film projects to participate within the Cairo Film Connection, which for the past 8 years, has been supporting several upcoming filmmaking talents along with helping them to become recognized on a regional but also international level.
Amir Ramses, recently named CIFF's Festival Director, explained that Lynda Belkhiria was selected for her extensive expertise as a programmer in several festivals, including the Carthage Film Festival (JCC). "This new collaboration will be an added value to the 9th edition of the Cairo Film Connection," Ramses said.
Belkhiria is a professional festival programmer and was Head of the industry platform Pro Carthage Film Festival. She has also worked as the Industry Events Coordinator during the 2011 Doha Tribeca Film Festival, and has been actively contributing to the Carthage Film Festival since 2016.
Cairo Film Connection is held yearly as part of Cairo Industry Days, the industry platform of the Cairo Film Festival, which brings industry professionals from all around the world to engage in a programme of masterclasses, panel discussions, and events designed to inspire, highlight and support filmmaking talent from the Region.
To be eligible for submission to the Cairo Film Connection, projects must be directed by filmmakers of Arab nationality or origin and be a work of feature-length fiction or non-fiction in development or post-production phase. Also to be noted, the director of the project must have previously directed a minimum of one film, whether that is a short or feature-length project.
