During a press conference held on November 7 in Cairo, the full programme was disclosed and it includes the Middle East premiere of 'Official Competition' starring Penélope Cruz and Antonio Banderas.

Featuring 98 films, from 63 countries and 27 world premieres, this year's edition of the Cairo International Film Festival promises to be a global affair.

Along with the announcement of its opening film, the Middle East premiere of Official Competition by Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat, festival president Mohamed Hefzy announced the Competition jury, which this year features jury president Emir Kusturica, Lebanese composer Khaled Mouzannar, Indian director Chaitanya Tamhane, American actress Marisa Berenson, Egyptian actress Nelly Karim, Italian filmmaker Roberto Minervini and French actress Nora Arnezeder.

Included in the Competition titles are 107 Mothers by Peter Kerekes, A Chiara by Jonas Carpignano, Daughers of Abdul-Rahman by Zaid Abu Hamdan and Seven Dogs by Rodrigo Guerrero.

Horizon of Arab Cinema Competition titles, to be judged by Fatima Al Banawy, Hady Zakkak and Tamer Mohsen, include Streams by Mehdi Hmili, Memory Box by Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joriege and Our River, Our Sky by Maysoon Pachachi.

During Cairo Film Festival there will also be its industry sidebar Cairo Industry Days, which will include talks and masterclasses with Indian composer A.R. Rahman, Egyptian megastar Nelly, who receives CIFF's Lifetime Achievement Award, actor Karim Abdel Aziz, recipient of the Faten Hamama Excellence Award and Italian filmmaker Roberto Minervini, whose films shed a much needed light on those marginalized and ignored in America.

Netflix X CIFF promises to provide great insight on filmmaking in the streaming era and MEMI, the Middle East Media Initiative TV Pitching Workshop will hold a one-day TV pitching forum, with comedian Hisham Fageeh who has been recently appointed the director of MEMI at USC.
