Hollywood blockbuster Fast & Furious 9 has hit top gear and reached a hefty $6.2 million debut in the Middle East after its release on May 20.
The film opened in the Middle East along with seven other markets –including China, Hong Kong and Korea – reaching a powerful $162.4 million over its opening weekend. Fast & Furious 9 has become the first Hollywood film in two years after Avengers: Endgame to reach more than $100 million in China.
The film, which opened in the US on June 25. Universal’s president of international distribution Veronika Kwan Vandenberg said: “Moviegoers are eager to come back to theaters when the right movie is out there.”
