Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot is to play the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action version of its seminal animation Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs according to reports.

The Israeli-actress – who will be next seen in Netflix’s action-romp Red Notice, starring alongside Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds – will join West Side Story’s Rachel Zegler who has already been cast as Snow White, the Evil Queen’s step-daughter.

Disney's original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was released in 1937 and it was the studio's first animated feature film. It was based on the 19th Century fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm.

The live-action version – the latest in Disney’s series of films based on its classic animation films – is set to shoot in the UK in March next year, to be directed by Mark Webb, who previously directed Amazing Spider-Man. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (the pair who wrote music for La La Land) are writing new songs for the film.
