The Red Sea International Film Festival announced on Instagram the appointment of Her Excellency Dr. Jomana Rashid Alrashid as the new Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation.

Alrashid is also the CEO of of the Saudi Research and Media Group, a Saudi-based integrated publishing company that owns 43 titles and 25 websites, including English language newspaper Arab News as well as Asharq Al-Awsat.

Educated in London, Alrashid also worked for the Al Riyadh newspaper, as their London correspondent, before being posted as a senior aide and adviser for media relations to the Saudi ambassador to the UK.

She then moved back to the Kingdom and began to work as a media advisor, before being appointed as a board member and CEO of SRMG in 2020. While in Riyadh, at SRMG, she has been responsible for the company's new branding and transformation strategy, and she helped launch the first Arabic-language manga magazine, as well as oversaw the acquisition of a majority stake in the leading Arabic podcast platform Thmanyah.

"Alrashid’s appointment is aimed at further enhancing the growth and development of the film industry ecosystem in Saudi Arabia. Through her new role and responsibilities, she will spearhead the development of both the Red Sea Film Festival and Foundation, while encouraging young, creative Saudi talent to be further recognised, appreciated, and valued for the things that truly make them special and unique," read the Red Sea Film IG post on Wednesday.

This year's second edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival will run from December 1-10 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. For more info, check out their website.
