Adidas Originals is teaming up with multi-disciplinary Emirati artist, Maisoon Al Saleh to release 50 exclusive pairs of Stan Smith shoes. The classic green and white trainers have been made in celebration of the UAE’s 50th National Day, marking 50 years of the iconic adidas trainer.
The project re-imagines a re-worked version of the Stan Smith stamp on the shoe to feature a custom-designed graphic of the UAE’s landscape in 1971 as compared to 2021. The left sneaker illustrates the Deira clock tower surrounded by an empty landmass from 1971, while the right shoe illustrates what Dubai’s skyline looks like today featuring buildings such as the Emirates Towers and The Museum of The Future.
The re-imagined shoes are designed by one of the UAE’s most renowned artists, Emirati artist and entrepreneur Maisoon Al Saleh, known for showcasing Emirati history and also challenging norms and representation.

Maisoon Al Saleh said:“ I am honoured to have the opportunity to create and celebrate with adidas for my country’s 50th year. In commemoration, the two artworks I created represent old and new Dubai with an x-rayed mirror effect. A piece of history on a pair of shoes,”
The sneakers, which will not be available for retail, will be gifted as a remembrance of the UAE’s 50th National Day.
