Netlix will be screening an eight-episode new season of the Saudi animation series Masameer County from July 1.
The new season - considered as a new incarnation and not a continuation of the previous seasons of Masameer County – offers a comedy view of a changing Saudi Arabia, with the Masameer team heading into a long-standing tribal feud, a media war, and a health craze gone too far.
The series is created by Saudis Malik Nejer and Abdul Aziz AlMuzaini, and stars Abdulaziz AlShehri, Mazroa AlMazroa, Ibraheem AlKhairallah, Shahad AlAhmari and Yusuf AlDakhil. It is part of Netflix’s five-year exclusive partnership with Saudi Arabian animation studio Myrkott, signed last year to produce Saudi-focused shows and films.
Masameer: The Movie screened exclusively on Netflix last year. It introduced Dana, a young Saudi girl aiming to use artificial intelligence to make the world abetter place, and also introduced the show's main three protagonists; Saad, Saltooh and Trad who aim to prove themselves by becoming superheroes.
