The final night of the inaugural Red Sea International Film Festival hit a wicket, pardon the pun, with the public screening of the world premiere of Kabir Khan's cricket saga 83. The film recreates India's historic Cricket World Cup win in 1983 in England with Singh playing cricketer Kapil Dev.
On the red carpet, Padukone wore a Michael Cinco coral mermaid gown, while Singh sported a brown checkered velvet Gucci suit, bare chested. Singh is known for his outlandish fashion choices and this was no exception. A red silk kerchief, camel suede boots and matching fedora competed the look, one which Alessandro Michele would approve.
In attendance in Jeddah were the film's director, his wife, actress Mini Mathur, as well as former Indian cricketers Kapil Dev and Mohinder Amarnath. Dev's wife, Romi Bhatia whom Padukone plays in the film also attended the screening.
The release of the much-anticipated film comes after three postponements due to coronavirus-imposed restrictions in India, where theatres only reopened in late October.
83 is scheduled to be released on December 24.
