In celebration of women in cinema the Red Sea International Film Festival, in collaboration with Mônot, hosted a gala dinner at the Venice International Film Festival which runs from 1-11 September 2021.

The gala was attended by remarkable women in the film industry including Kate Hudson, Demi Moore, Isabelle Huppert, Kaouther Ben Hania, Saba Mubarak, Țara Abboud, Saudi actress and personality Fatima Albanawi (pictured in our header), Sara Messfir, Eiza González, and Alejandra Onieva. The event was designed to honour women in cinema and support the Festival’s mission to drive the empowerment and support of women both in front and behind the camera and the future generation of female creatives.

Shivani Pandya Malhotra, Edouard Waintrop and Mohammed Al Turki from the Red Sea management team welcomed an array of film, TV and fashion talent from around world including fashion designer Eli Mizrahi, Dani de Lio, producer Tarak Ben Ammar, TV host Raya Abirached, Ester Expósito, Lous and the Yakuza, Jon Kortajarena Redruello; Lena Perminova, SooJoo Park, Adesuwa Aighewi, Kristina Romanova, Liza Yermalovich, Alton Mason, and Lorena Rae, Ahmed Al Mulla, Yagoub Al Farhan, Mujtaba Saeed, Almotaz Al Jefri and Faris Godus.

The inaugural edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival will take place from December 6 -15, 2021 and is set to bring the best in Arab and World Cinema to the UNESCO world heritage site of Jeddah Old Town.

The Festival will showcase a compelling slate of new and diverse films, alongside a retrospective programme celebrating the masters of cinema as well as introducing audiences to exciting new voices from the region and beyond. The Festival will provide a platform for Arab filmmakers and industry professionals from around the world to connect, host feature and short film competitions, and present a series of events, masterclasses, and workshops to support emerging talent.
