The Short Films and La Cinef Jury, presided by Yousry Nasrallah , announces their winners for Cannes 2022

The Short Films and La Cinef Jury, presided by Yousry Nasrallah and comprised of Canadian Tunisian actress and director Monia Chokri, French actor Félix Moati, French journalist Jean-Claude Raspiengeas and Belgian filmmaker Laura Wandel, has awarded the 2022 La Cinef Prizes during a ceremony held in the Buñuel Theater, followed by the screening of the winning films. La Cinef Selection this year included 16 student films, chosen out of 1,528 entries coming from 378 film schools around the world.

The first prize went to Il barbiere complottista (A Conspiracy Man) from Italian helmer Valerio Ferrara, a student at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Italy. The Festival de Cannes allocates a €15,000 grant for the First Prize.

The second prize went to Di Er (Somewhere) directed by Li Jiahe, from the Hebei University of Science and Technology, School of Film and Televisio in China. The film receives €11,250 for Second Prize from the Festival de Cannes.

The joint third prize went to both Glorious Revolution by Masha Novikova from the London Film School in the United Kingdom; and Les humains sont cons quand ils s'empilent (Humans Are Dumber when Crammed up Together) directed by Laurène Fernandez, from La CinéFabrique in France. The Festival de Cannes allocates €7,500 for the Third Prize.

The awarded films will be screened at the Cinéma du Panthéon, in Paris on May 31st, 2022 at 6:30 p.m.
