VOX Cinemas has signed a deal with ODEX, a leading international distributor of Japanese animation films, to open box office hit Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train, as well as a series of other anime movies, across the MENA region.
Under the new deal, six titles will be released theatrically across eight territories including Mugen Train, which is the top-grossing film of all time in Japan and recently enjoyed the biggest foreign-language debut in US box office history.
Directed by Haruo Sotozaki, and a direct sequel to the popular 2019 television series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, the film was released in Japan last October, where it went on to become a hit. Due to its success, a second season of the anime series has been commissioned and set to premiere later this year.
While knowledge of the series’ storyline is useful, the film’s impressive animation makes the journey easier. Tanjiro and the group have completed their rehabilitation training at the Butterfly Mansion, and they arrive at their next mission on the Mugen Train, where more than 40 people have vanished in a short space of time. Tanjiro and Nezuko, along with Zenitsu and Inosuke, join one of the most powerful swordsmen of the Demon Slayer Corps, Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku, to face the demon aboard the Mugen Train.
Toni El Massih, Chief Content Officer at VOX Cinemas said: “VOX Cinemas is extremely proud to be ODEX’s exclusive film distributor partner for the Middle East and North Africa and, we are confident that our expertise and knowledge of the market coupled with their impressive catalogue of content will drive box-office growth.
