This August, Hindi cinema lovers will relish in the wonder of Aamir Khan's upcoming Laal Singh Chaddha, the official Bollywood remake of classic Hollywood film Forrest Gump.
The film is directed by Advait Chandan, features an adaptation by Atul Kulkarni, from the original screenplay : Eric Roth. It is produced by Aamir Khan, with Kiran Rao & Jyoti Deshpande with Ajit Andhare for Viacom18 Studios.
Laal Singh Chaddha is a simple man on an extraordinary journey through history. Much like Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump, Khan will have to convince the audience that he's not the cool, handsome and successful actor and producer he really is, but rather a simpleton with a heart of gold. Khan has already embodied someone less than stellar when he played Rancho in the 2009 film 3 Idiots, directed by Rajkumar Hirani and based on the best-selling novel Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat. At the time of its release, 3 Idiots broke all Bollywood box office records by raking in more than 43 million pounds worldwide in just over a month.
Laal Singh Chaddha stars Khan as the titular character along with Kareena Kapoor, Naga Chaitanya (in his Hindi film debut) and Mona Singh. It will be distributed by Paramount Pictures.
