Iranian-US actress Yara Shahidi, who is currently starring in a new live-action Disney adaptation of the classic Peter Pan story, is to develop and executive produce an adaptation of Cole Brown’s acclaimed novel Greyboy: Finding Blackness in a White World as a TV series for ABC Signature.
She will develop the series with her business partner (and mother) Keri Shahidi through their company 7th Sun Productions as part of a development deal they have with ABC Signature. They are also making comedy series Smoakland for Freeform through their company.

Shahidi is starring as Tinkerbell in Disney’s live-action film Peter Pan and Wendy, starring alongside Jude Law (as Captain Hook) as well as Ever Anderson and Alexander Molony. The film is directed by David Lowery. She is perhaps best known for her role as Zoey Johnson in ABC’s Black-ish and subsequent college-based spin-off Grown-ish.
Yara Sayeh Shahidi was born in Minneapolis to Iranian photographer Afshin Shahidi and mother Keri Salter Shahidi. She began modelling as a youngster, and made her film debut in 2009 opposite Eddie Murphy in Imagine That.
